As a result of the ongoing high-risk factors of the COVID-19 pandemic, government restrictions, public health requirements, and general uncertainty, Easter Seals Ontario has made the difficult decision to suspend its summer camp program for 2021.
The health and safety of the children and families we serve, and our staff are always our foremost priority. After extensive review and careful consideration with our Board of Directors, we have determined we are not able to safely operate camp this year.
I realize this is very disappointing news, and I want you to know everyone at Easter Seals is equally disappointed.
So that our campers don’t have to go another full year without visiting Easter Seals camp, we are hoping to open the camps for Easter Seals families to come and play for free with their family (cohort) this summer. We will be monitoring government and public health guidelines, and if permitted, plan to provide a safe visit for our campers and their families and hopefully excite some new campers to join us for our full camp program in 2022. More details to come in the coming months. Please watch the camp website or follow up on social media for updates as they become available.
In addition, we will be offering expanded virtual and at-home camp activities for Easter Seals kids during spring break, beginning on April 11, and throughout the summer beginning on July 4, 2021. More information will be provided via email, social media and on the website in the coming weeks.
