Leaders In Training
The Leaders in Training program helps youth develop leadership and other practical skills, which can be used throughout their lives for their own personal growth.
Youth in the program live in a cabin with other LITs and are supervised by the LIT programmer. They gain valuable leadership skills through team building activities, discussions, journals, mentoring and evaluations.
The program is both challenging and fun. The LITs live together, hang out together and participate in a special ‘out of camp’ trip together. There are also plenty of opportunities for everyone to practice their newly developed leadership skills within the camp community.
Criteria for the LIT program
- Between the ages of 16—22 years
- Independent in own self-care or be able to direct your own care (Attendants will be available)
- Interested in developing leadership skills

Frequently Asked Questions…
Where will I live?
The LITs live together in a camper cabin. All cabins are wheelchair accessible.
What attendant care is available?
You will be able to contract with a counsellor for any attendant care you require. You should feel comfortable directing your own care, as the attendant will take their direction from you.
Will I get a chance to take advantage of the activities at camp?
Yes. Built into your day is a ‘solo time’ when you can choose a camp activity to participate in. Remember to keep in mind that you are a participating leader - you cannot turn off being a leader when having ‘solo time’.
What are your meals like?
A catering company provides family-style meals, served in our dining halls. The camp is able to accommodate basic diets such as vegan, high fibre, etc. If you have a more specialized diet, please contact Easter Seals to ensure your nutritional needs can be met. Easter Seals camps are peanut aware camps.
Are there laundry facilities at camp?
Yes, there are washing machines and dryers available. LITs will have access to the laundry facilities while they are at camp. Laundry detergent will be provided.
How many LITs will there be?
Each session will have 8 LIT participants.
